Not too bad today

Everything's going OK with me. I am not getting a lot done this week, and school starts back in less than a month.

Don't get started on that . . . Carpe Diem!

It hurts a lot to go to the gas station. These big gas bills are bummin' me out. Then, all the sudden, prices drop 15 cents or so, because the stock market went up. Well. How about that? Speculators are messing with the whole dang economy. And all these people who got mortgages with NO money down, and an ARM (how stupid was that???) Guess what, you're not going to have your parents' house and car and vacation home and . . . etc. right out of college!!

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, my husband and I were offered an ARM -- so we could get "more" house. The realtor said, "You will probably get a 5% raise every year, so nothing to worry about." Well, we didn't bite. We got a good ol' 30 year, fixed rate, FHA. And then the bottom fell out of the oil market (80's). And we could still pay our FIXED RATE mortgage, because he didn't get a raise for 7 years!!

Nuff said.

Premiere

Yeah, I get on my soapbox about a lot of stuff. Some of it, I probably need to let go. Other stuff, perfectly legitimate -- at least in my opinion.

My mom used to say that I needed to preface my thoughts with "in my opinion . . ." and I'm free and clear; nobody can sue you for libel or whatever.

Sometimes I get irritated by the stuff I read in the paper. My best buddy tells me, "Stop reading the %%$%@**&$ paper!" I can't help it -- I'm a reading junkie. I try to stay "current", whatever that means.

Like --
The folks in Sacramento who were being fined by the city for letting their grass die. Seems it's against the law in Sacramento to not "irrigate" one's lawn. However, these folks thought it was irresponsible to water grass during a drought. So they let their grass die. And were threatened with a fine of, something like, $500 a day. Evidently, cooler heads prevailed and the city council is considering rescinding the ordinance, and the folks don't have to pay the fine. There is justice in the world, sometimes.

I'll never be as good a writer as my girls, but I try.
